An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Pastoral Department within the Student Experience Directorate at Kirklees College. The role is cross college and flexibility to travel to other college sites is required of the successful candidate.

To provide high quality pastoral support across the college, working with others to ensure appropriate plans and strategies are in place to support healthy social and emotional development. The successful candidate will promote positive behaviour using a restorative practice approach and offer a range of holistic support to ensure a rounded approach to support for students. All staff are required to promote and uphold the values of the college.

The ideal candidates will have previous experience of working with young people in an educational/ youth work or guidance capacity. You will have experience of advocating for young people and will need excellent communication skills, a commitment to the welfare of young people in education and be able to use own judgement and initiative in complex situations leading to a successful outcome.

The qualifications deemed essential for the post are a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy (e.g. GCSE English and Maths at grade A*-C) and educated to Level 3 e.g. BTEC, NVQ, A-Level equivalent. The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is also essential for the post.
