WHAT WE DO 

The 14-16 Skills Development Programme is due to move in July 2021 to Mabgate, to a purpose-built environment for our pre 16 provision.

This will incorporate facilities to support students prepare for adulthood alongside studying English and Maths whilst having the opportunity to ‘try out’ vocational courses to support their progression.

The 14-16 Skills Development Programme is for students aged 14-16 who are unable to access mainstream Year 10 and Year 11 provision In 2021/21 we have 85 pre 16 students.

Students referred to this course often have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and/or additional SEND needs which has resulted in their disengagement from mainstream provision.

Many of the students who attend this provision have an Education, Health and Care Plan.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Responsible for a caseload students who have SEND needs acting as the main point of contact for the students while they are enrolled to Leeds City College.
  • Following the assessment of need, ensure appropriate support plans and summaries for SEND students are completed, demonstrating appropriate strategies and Exam Access Arrangements.
  • Comply with the JCQ guidelines.
  • Ensure EAA is in place for all School SEND students.
  • To lead on the transition into, through and out of LCC for the caseload of school students from our partner schools who have SEND working collaboratively with Schools, parents and other partners.
  • To lead and manage a team of learning support assistants and TA’s who provide learning or access support for students who have SEND needs using a range of innovative and strategic approaches.
  • Support and supervise specialist agency staff providing support on the campus/centre as required.
  • Working with the Deputy Head of SEND and Pastoral to ensure all paperwork is prepared in timely manner and the college is compliant with all local authority/legal frameworks and college processes as required by the Head of SEND.

YOUR PROFILE 

  • Experience of working with students who have SEND needs in a direct specialist support role while maintaining appropriate relationships and boundaries with a commitment to the significance of the learner voice.
  • Experience of managing, leading, mentoring, training and supporting staff whilst developing and maintaining effective professional relationships.
  • Up to date knowledge and understanding of current Government, SEN/Disability legislation and guidance related to transition, education, health and care.
  • Up to date knowledge and understanding of quality assurance frameworks related to education such as Ofsted and the common Inspection framework.
