The post holder will lead Gower College Swansea’s commercial training arm ‘GCS Training’, ensuring that the portfolio of provision is contemporary and relevant to employers’ needs across a broad range of disciplines including Digital, Management, Health & Social Care and many others.

The College has recently secured a contract with the Welsh Government to deliver apprenticeships in Wales over the coming years; various funding streams will also be accessible to the College moving forward, and other courses are supplied to industry on a commercial basis. GCS Training has experienced exponential growth over recent years and there is an appetite to seek further growth in both Wales and England moving forward – whilst always providing quality outcomes for learners and employers.

The successful applicant will lead the delivery of skills initiatives, ensuring staff are clear on their role and purpose in order to hit KPI’s in learner recruitment, outcomes, learner and employer satisfaction, whilst driving performance through effective line management of a team of Commercial Coordinators. The role will support the Director of Skills & Business Development and will contribute to the strategic direction of GCS Training (and wider College) in terms of business, skills and quality development.

With a degree or equivalent level professional qualification you will have a knowledge of Welsh funding streams, and associated criteria such as eligibility and compliance requirements, together with knowledge of curriculum development and an understanding or experience of the coordination and delivery of varied skills programmes with a significant volume of activity. With a proven track record of achieving targets within a commercial training environment, you will have prior knowledge of apprenticeship/ work based learning programmes and activities (in Wales and/or England).

With outstanding performance management skills, you will have the ability to inspire and motivate teams to reach challenging targets. Finely tuned business planning skills and excellent communication skills will be required to drive provision and hit targets, which are essential requirements of this role.
