Apprentice Foundry Operative

Spunalloys Limited are looking to recruit a Foundry Operative Apprentice, working alongside a mentor within the Foundry, learning all aspects of centrifugal casting.

All foundry operatives work as part of a small team, reporting directly to the shift Foreman.

All operatives are expected to comply with the Company Security and Health & Safety policies.

All operatives must adhere to the wearing of PPE, maintaining a safe system of working and keeping the environment clean and orderly. 

Duties will include (but will not be limited to):

• You will be working with induction furnaces and molten metal to create centrifugal cast solutions for heat, wear and corrosion susceptible environments
• The principles of key ‘Post Casting’ operations which include, casting removal from the mould, rough fettling, post metal casting heat treatment i.e. stress relieving, annealing, normalising, quenching and tempering or solution treatment and aging, casting repair, final fettling and machining
• Calculate machining criteria and the correct machining processes for metal castings that require machining

Apprentices are responsible for ensuring they comply with the requirements of the business and College, completing all course work (practical and theory) in a timely fashion and to set deadlines.
