Apprentice Laboratory Technician
Within our Health and Life Sciences department we have a fantastic new role for an Apprentice Laboratory Technician. This is a brilliant opportunity for a budding scientist to work within a laboratory environment whilst also studying for a BTEC Level 3 qualification. This is an entry level role and would suit a school leaver or someone looking to take their next step in education whilst also learning on the job. Unfortunately as the position is an apprenticeship we aren't able to consider applications from candidates who already hold qualifications above Level 3.
For the position we can consider individuals who are available now, but also anyone who would be looking for work from September for next academic year.
About the role
Within the position you will support the department by ensuring all required equipment and resources are available to support student learning. This will include setting up and dismantling laboratory assessments, ensuring all equipment is in working order and ready for sessions and maintaining and keeping up to date inventories and records for equipment and materials.
You will also ensure the health and safety of students and maintaining laboratory areas, so they are clean, tidy and ready for use.
To apply for the role, you will have a keen interest in science including minimum grade 4 or 5 within Science at GCSE level and be keen to learn and develop within the area. You will also have grade 4/ C or above in GCSE Maths and English.
You will be hard working, motivated, reliable and flexible with the ability to adjust to changing environments and react quickly. You will be friendly and approachable with a desire to help colleagues and students alike.
