An exciting opportunity to join Burrito Kitchen a fast growing Mexican food outlet at Intu Merry Hill. We are looking for an enthusiastic, happy, motivated apprentice to join our team.

To assist the Shop Management at all times so that the unit functions as a self sufficient business unit capable of implementing the company’s objectives above. You will meet those objectives by fulfilling the specific responsibilities listed below:

  • Preparing Products for Sale: Preparation of products specific to the unit you are working in
  • Receiving goods and deliveries correctly by accurately checking against delivery notes. Checking for infestation and damaged boxes and ensuring correct temperatures for various foods for storage according to company guidelines
  • Cooking of Food: Cooking of food should be done in accordance with correct policy and procedure following HACCP. Safeguarding equipment, stock and machinery at all times
  • Customer Service and Sales: Maintaining product quality and freshness at all times by setting up promotional displays and putting food out as instructed by catering management or in accordance with company procedures as instructed to do so
  • Requirement to replenish stock where necessary (e.g. using local shops for items out of stock)
  • Providing excellent customer service when serving customers in accordance with company procedure and training. For example, giving a welcome greeting and a ‘friendly farewell’ and supporting company promotions and offers, e.g. occasionally encouraging customers to try samples
  • Using upselling techniques where appropriate. For example ‘go-large,’ offering customers additional items with their meals and promoting company offers and specials
  • Cleaning and Hygiene: Pot washing following company Health and Safety procedures for sharp objects and machinery. Safe and correct disposal of waste when shutting down the unit
  • Closing down the unit: Shutting down of the unit should be done correctly and safely. Ensuring all units are cleaned thoroughly with company detergents at the end of the da (With hot water, detergents, sanitiser and degrease for floors, surfaces and fridges and vinegar spray for glass surfaces and displays)
  • Tills: The use of tills and credit card machine should be as described in training unless otherwise stated by management
  • Keep up to date with relevant training and development. For example, seeking to learn new menus
