JOB OVERVIEW

The University of Sheffield International College is excited to be expanding the Business and Economics team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, learner-centred Statistics and Economics Tutor to join the team, teaching on either our bespoke Level 3 or Level 6 programs. In this job role, you’ll start by teaching online lessons, to groups of around 20 International students, providing innovative and engaging lessons that’ll provide the students with the skills that they need to progress into Higher Education.

This is a varied job role, so your day could consist of teaching your groups, contributing to online engagement activities, provide marking and feedback from both formative and summative assessments, or taking part in staff meetings and training. You’ll be working as part of large team that are proud of the advanced teaching practice that is adopted, so they’ll be lots of opportunity for you to develop your teaching skills. This is very unique teaching experience, dealing with a diverse group of students. You’ll have access to cutting edge teacher training, and gain unique experience with QAA processes, as well as working at a level that can help you qualify for the HE fellowship framework.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

In this job, you’ll deliver our Statistics and Economics provision, teaching groups of international students across our Level 6 programmes. Our class sizes are on average between 18-20 students, and you’ll be given the autonomy to be innovative and engaging to enhance the blended learning experience. There will be material development for you to be involved in. You’ll undertake marking and feedback provision on a formative and summative basis, and you’ll also have the chance to support the development of the student’s independent learning.

EXPERIENCE

  • Your experience will be in teaching Statistics/Economics in a Further Education or Higher Education context, teaching at a minimum of Level 3 (and 6, if stated above). (essential)
  • A degree in a relevant subject. (essential)
  • A postgraduate qualification or PhD in a relevant subject. (essential for level 6)
  • A recognised teaching qualification (desirable)
  • Experience teaching students under the age of 18 (desirable)
  • Previous experience teaching International Students (desirable)
