An exciting opportunity has arisen within Gower College Swansea’s Additional Learning Needs department for a Transition and Review Officer.

This is an important role in enabling the College to be an active party in the transition and ongoing review process for learners with Individual Development Plans (IDP). 

Responsible for liaising with key stakeholders, including education providers and families, you will organise reviews, plan for a successful transition and monitor the effectiveness of the support provided using person-centred practice. You will conduct annual IDP reviews and ensure that the service directly contributes to positive learner outcomes, improved success rates, increased employability and appropriate progression for every learner.      

With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will have proven experience of working with young people with additional learning needs, along with knowledge of appropriate ALN support and relevant legislation. You will need to have strong organisation, time management and problem solving skills.   The ability to motivate and enthuse the learners in innovative ways, along with inspiring best practice across the organisation, is important.

Educated to degree level or equivalent or with relevant experience, you will have five GCSE’s (Grade A-C) or equivalent, including Maths and English, as well as good IT and administration skills.

Applications may be submitted in Welsh and will be treated no less favourably than applications submitted in English.

Appointments will normally be made to the bottom of the salary scale with annual increments on 1st August each year (subject to completing 6 months service).
