ILS Employability Tutor

Pembrokeshire College is looking to employ hourly paid ILS Employability Tutor(s) to provide training for learners with Additional Learning Needs with the necessary practical skills to help them to paid or placement opportunities.

Hourly Rate:  £12.26 - £15.23 per hour                          

Hours of Work:  
Up to 37 weekly working hours are available (working pattern to be agreed if more than one person appointed)          

Contract Type: Hourly Paid Fixed Term until 31st August 2021

Qualifications: 
A relevant Level 3 qualification will ideally be held.  If not held, significant  experience in at least one of the areas outlined below is required

The successful applicant must have a range of practical skills in areas such as:  Mechanics, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Carpentry or Horticulture.  Whilst priority will be given to these, other practical trade skills would be considered.

The role involves preparing ILS learners  with a range of practical skills to help them progress to employment or placement opportunities  and to help them develop resilience, employability and independent living skills.  Applicants must have experience of supporting learners with Additional Learning Needs, be able to use their own initiative and to work independently.  They must have excellent organisational and  communication skills.   

Due to the requirement to work face to face with these vulnerable learners on the College premises, and the College’s duty to work in accordance with Welsh Government Covid requirements, staff appointed cannot be either at ‘increased risk’, ’extremely vulnerable’ or living with someone who is ’extremely vulnerable’ in relation to Covid, as social distancing is not possible with these learners.
