We are one of the largest partners of the University of the Highlands and Islands, a partnership of 13 colleges and research institutions comprising Scotland’s newest university.

As the UK’s leading tertiary education provider, we deliver both further education and higher education courses and that makes us different from traditional institutions. Through an innovative approach to learning and some of the best online learning technologies, we offer our students the complete learner journey, where they have choice and flexibility to study from access level right through to PhD.

Inverness College UHI is at the heart of the community. Working closely with businesses and stakeholders, our curriculum and research capacity is designed to meet the ever-evolving needs of industry and support the strengths and ambitions of the region. Through a personalised approach, we help our students discover their right path, providing them with a combination of qualification and job-ready skills to succeed in the workplace. Inverness College UHI has locations at Inverness Campus and also the Scottish School of Forestry (Balloch), a growing hub for research, innovation and enterprise set within a 215 acre site.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated member of staff to work with us as an Education Support Advisor within our Wellbeing and Learning Support team on a permanent basis.

Job Purpose:

Our Education Support Advisors (ESAs) support students across the full range of further, higher and post graduate education courses at the College, assessing and supporting individual needs to ensure that our students overcome any barrier to learning and achieve their full potential. As an ESA, you will create personal learning support plans and will provide 1-1 specialist support to students as well as offering study skills advice.

We are looking for someone who has professional experience in the same or an equivalent role, such as a background in educational support work, teaching or tutoring learners with additional support needs, and who has an awareness of common barriers to learning and strategies to overcome or support these.

Ideally you will have specialist experience of supporting a particular learning need/disability and will already be comfortable using and recommending assistive technology software.

We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as a warm, approachable manner and the ability to manage your own caseload. In turn, you will be welcomed into a highly supportive team and provided with professional training opportunities.

This is a full time, permanent (not term-time) position, based at the main Inverness College UHI campus, but some work on other local campuses may be required. At this time, ESAs are working remotely from home due to the current restrictions. This is an exciting opportunity to become an integral part of an inclusive and forward-thinking institution in a demanding but highly rewarding role.

Please note: the successful post holder will need to pass a satisfactory PVG Scheme check through Disclosure Scotland prior to commencing employment.
