An exciting opportunity has arisen at Warrington & Vale Royal College for a dedicated, and specialist Lecturer to teach across the Access programmes, specialising in Psychology. We are seeking an enthusiastic and professional individual who can teach across Level 2 and 3 in Psychology and also academic skills and social sciences on the pre-access and Access to HE pathways. The ability to teach biology would also be an advantage but is not essential. You will guide students to achieve excellent results through a variety of teaching and learning strategies. The successful candidate should have an up to date knowledge of psychological theories, academic writing skills and social science that relates to health and social care.

Your skills will be broad and should include teaching adults aged 19+, appropriate communication, team work skills and effective organisational skills (both self and workload). You will be able to adapt teaching and learning strategies and select resources as appropriate in order to meet learner needs. You will be supported by a professional and experienced line manager. You will have a current understanding of the curriculum and its means of delivery and proficiency in the software needed in delivery.

In October 2019 the College was officially commended as ‘Good’ by Ofsted, and we celebrated some of the highest pass rates in England, ranking us in the top 10 nationally for the third consecutive year. Our mission is ‘Realising potential, transforming lives’. Our environment is inclusive, friendly and supportive, with high expectations for both staff and students. To thrive in our environment, you will need to be resilient, positive, able to work autonomously, have a strong work ethic, and put our learners at the heart of everything you do.

This post offers an opportunity for a passionate teacher, with the skills and enthusiasm to motivate students, to work as part of a successful department within the College.  You will be an enterprising teacher with ambition and drive, with the student experience at the heart of teaching and learning.

You will be educated to Degree level in Psychology or a related subject and have a high degree of industry practice. You will have a recognised teaching qualification, or be willing to work towards a recognised teaching qualification. Through the Taking Teaching Further programme, the College is able to recruit applicants with industry experience to retrain as FE teachers. The programme will provide funding for the cost of the teacher qualification and full mentor support, provided by the College.

This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and Prohibition Checks.

Please note that it is college policy that referees of short-listed candidates will automatically be approached prior to interview. One reference should be from your current or most recent employer.

The College operates on 2 campuses – Warrington and Winsford.
