Apprentice Timber frame Design Technician

Day to day tasks will include: • Gathering new customers from enquiries, • Estimating & Quoting for projects, • Designing project work either won by yourself or secured centrally in the department

This is an exciting opportunity to join Merronbrook Ltd as an apprentice. You will be part of the design team, responsible for producing CAD drawings in 2D and 3D. For the right person, there is the opportunity to develop skills in design and drawing techniques within a fast-paced, busy workplace. On completion of your apprenticeship, you will be able to produce drawings and designs to industry standards and regulations, including BIM.As an Apprentice; you will initially attend the Cadcoe Training Academy where you will learn how to use CAD software for 2D and 3D modelling.

Day to day tasks will include:

  • Gathering new customers from enquiries
  • Estimating & Quoting for projects
  • Designing project work either won by yourself or secured centrally in the department
  • Using Autodesk Revit with a 3rd party plug-in: Horizon from Wolf Systems
  • Taking a design from customers’ concept drawings, through Approval sets, to Production Issue, and then Construction Issue
  • Liaising with client or their design team, and with our 3rd party Str. Engineers
  • Issuing manufacture drawings & material-picking schedules to our frame assemblers and off-site steel fabricators
  • Administering production data, work values and dates for deliveries
  • Issuing installation drawings to site installers
  • Managing the installation of the project, liaising with erectors
  • Managing the technical handover
