Senior Science Technician

Hours of work: 37 hours per week

We are recruiting for a Senior Science Technician to join our friendly and highly successful Sixth Form science team. Our Sixth Form has a strong academic ethos; working towards excellence for our students and helping each individual to achieve their full potential.

About the role:

As a Senior Science Technician, you will work as part of an established science department, leading the technical support for teaching and learning and co-ordinating the development and maintenance of resources for the science department. You will also have supervisory responsibility for two Science Technicians.

Day to day this will include preparing materials and equipment for practical work, ensuring the laboratories and preparation areas conform to current Health and Safety requirements / professional standards and provide learners and staff with an appropriate working environment and supporting lecturers delivering practical science sessions.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for someone who has previous technical experience, preferably in an education setting and technical expertise in science laboratories. A background in Biology would be desirable. You should hold advanced level qualification/s in Science, as well as GCSE Maths and English grades A*-C/ 9-4 or equivalent.

You should be highly organised and be able to manage your time effectively. Good interpersonal skills are essential, and you should be able to interact professionally with both staff and students.
