Location: Shrewsbury

County Training, as part of Herefordshire, Ludlow and North Shropshire College, are the largest training provider in Shropshire, operating from several bases across the county. We are a major provider of apprenticeships and work-based training, as well as adult learning programmes for the unemployed and those seeking to progress into further education or employment.  We work closely with businesses and employers across the region, as well as other stakeholders such as local councils.

The postholder will provide effective leadership and management of County Training and be responsible for the ongoing development of the curriculum offer, day to day operational management of staff and resources, maintenance and improvement of quality and standards and the line management of team members. 

The curriculum includes provision for apprenticeships and work based learning across the Health & Social Care, Childcare, Teaching Support, Business Administration & Management, I.T., Catering and Hairdressing sectors, with a remit to grow apprenticeships in other areas such as plumbing, motor vehicle and electrical installation (in partnership with North Shropshire College).  The postholder will also be responsible for the management of County Training’s Distance Learning provision as well as other skills-based delivery contracts awarded through agencies such as the DWP and the Marches LEP.

County Training operates from several bases across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin, including Shrewsbury, Ludlow, Telford, Whitchurch and Oswestry.  The postholder will be based at Shrewsbury, but will be required to travel to other bases as part of the role.

We are seeking an experienced, successful leader of work based and adult learning programmes to focus on providing excellence in teaching, learning and assessment, and meeting learners’ needs through an innovative and engaging curriculum. You will also contribute to cross-College developments through the Operational Management Team.
