CU Scarborough has been established by Coventry University Group as a new campus in North Yorkshire to provide high quality, student centric, career focused higher education on the Yorkshire Coast, a recognised HE cold spot.  It also provides a base to serve the wider region. CU Scarborough works in close collaboration with a number of partners including a range of employers.  It operates through one of Coventry University’s wholly owned subsidiaries (Coventry University College Ltd.) and is supported by the wider group infrastructure. Our new purpose-built facilities opened in September 2016 located at the heart of Scarborough’s brand new circa £50 million education and sports campus.

With the rapidly growing nursing provision at CU Scarborough we are now looking to expand our team with a further Course Leader.  This is an exciting time at CUS and this role will have a key focus upon the Nursing Apprenticeship provision whilst supporting the existing Course Leader with undergraduate programmes.  Experience of apprenticeship delivery i.e. Nursing Associates alongside ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies i.e. Ofsted would be an advantage.

In addition to taking on a full range of tutor/delivery duties, Course Leaders take responsibility for management and leadership of one or more programmes. You will supervise a small but potentially diverse team of staff including substantive and hourly paid tutors working on campus, in-company (e.g. for degree apprenticeship delivery) and online, ensuring your programme area has good academic rigour, is well organised and is operationally efficient. You will support the induction and development of staff, ensuring engagement in scholarship and professional development activities, as well as compliance with campus, company and group policies.

You will be responsible for the provision of high quality learning and teaching within your academic area, ensuring high levels of student performance, progression and retention.  You will ensure full and timely engagement in all necessary academic, quality assurance and enhancement processes.  You will ensure good quality learning resources are in place and assignment/assessment briefs are produced on time and are of a high standard.

You will play an active and leading role in student recruitment for your area.  Positive and productive relationship building with external partners such as colleges, employers, professional bodies and external examiners will also be important.  In addition, Course Leaders will be team players working collegiately with other staff at CU Scarborough, with peers in CU Coventry and CU London and where necessary engaging with colleagues within the wider University group.
