Part-Time Tutors in Hospitality & Catering

Pembrokeshire College has an exciting opportunity for Part-Time Tutor(s) to join our Health, Childcare & Commercial Enterprises Department, providing regular and/or occasional sickness and/or other cover when required.  If you are interested in passing on your knowledge and experience to the next generation, or have an interest in moving into teaching, this is an excellent chance (perhaps worked around current commitments) to gain experience and access to other working opportunities.

Salary Details: £14.08 - £16.97 - BAR £17.52 - £19.47 per hour        

Hours of Work: Hourly paid – up to approximately 14 hours per week (plus occasional ad hoc cover by agreement)
Hours will be worked over the College’s term weeks only
Working pattern: this role is required on a daily basis
Monday - Friday  (9.30am —5.00pm  plus evening work for catering events as required)               

Contract Type: Initially fixed term to 30/06/2021, with the potential for ongoing permanent work

Qualifications:

  • Preferably candidates will hold a level 3 Catering and Hospitality qualification in Professional Cooking or equivalent.  However, a level 2 qualification is required in order to be considered for the role and;
  • Ideally you will hold a current First Aid Certificate and a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate. (If not held, you will be required to undertake and achieve within an agreed timescale)
  • It is desirable but not essential to hold a Teaching  or training Qualification e.g. Award in Education and Training (AET).  If not held, this could be undertaken and achieved within the College

The successful candidate(s) will have substantive and recent experience of working within a practical hospitality & catering environment.  They will also ideally have previous experience of assessing or training colleagues or apprentices.

Practice experience and knowledge of current and upcoming processes and innovations within the Hospitality & Catering industry is essential, with the ability to pass this on through innovative and creative learning experiences. Applicants must be confident in their understanding of industry standards and be able to demonstrate a passion for keeping up to date with industry trends.

This is an exciting opportunity to pass on the skills and experience you have gained over the years and to have an insight into a fast-paced professional educational environment.  This role can be worked flexibly around current work commitments.  

Please note: Successful candidates will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check prior to commencing work (this is to be paid for by the individual at a cost of £40).

With effect from 1st April 2016 all FE Support Workers in Wales are required to register with the Education Workforce Council (EWC), prior to commencing employment (this is to be paid for by the individual at a cost of £15).
