Lecturer in Independent Living Skills (ILS) (Absence Cover)

Pembrokeshire College is looking for flexible, motivated and inspiring individuals to join the Independent Living Skills (ILS) teaching team to offer absence cover support on an ad-hoc basis.  The ILS Department is a growing curriculum area and we offer a range of programmes to suit individual learners needs, from pre-entry to level 1.  

Salary Details
Scale: ALS1-4 (£18.26- £21.54 per hour) - without teaching qualification
MG1-UP1 (£22.02- £33.42 per hour) - with teaching qualification                  Opportunity to progress onto a further scale
UP2-UP3 (£34.66 – £35.93 per hour)

Contract Type:  Hourly Paid -Fixed term 30/06/2021

Hours of work:  Variable hours– Flexible throughout the week

Qualifications:   You will be qualified to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline. If you do not hold a recognised teaching qualification (such as PGCE or Award in Education and Training), you will be required to undertake and achieve PGCE within a specified timescale.

Experience:                         

  • Of teaching and supporting ILS learners to develop their independent living, employability, health and wellbeing and community inclusion skills.  
  • Experience of person centred delivery in line with Estyn’s Four Pillars
  • Implementing learner tracking and monitoring systems
  • A good understanding of internal and external quality assurance processes
  • Providing innovative teaching and learning strategies appropriate for ILS learners.  

The successful candidate should also have strong ICT skills.  As part of the College’s blended learning programmes, it is likely that you will be required to teach learners remotely.  You will therefore be IT literate and confident with engaging with technology for teaching.  Experience of remote delivery of learning would be advantageous.
