Due to some very exciting growth, we are looking for Social Sciences Tutors to join The University of Sheffield International College to teach Urban Studies (Levels 3 & 6), Sociology (Level 3) or Social Sciences (Level 6).
As the largest pathway college within the UK & Europe, with over 1,500 students enrolled annually, you’ll be joining a large collaborative team that is passionate about teaching and learning. You would be working in a culture of enhancing learning, teaching and assessment through a developmental Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy, which for you will mean autonomy, innovation, and development opportunities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
In this job, you’ll deliver our Social Sciences (Urban Studies, Sociology and Social Sciences) module provision, teaching small groups international students across our Level 3 and Level 6 programmes. Our class sizes are on average between 15-20 students, and you’ll be given the autonomy to be innovative and engaging to enhance the learning experience. The job will give you an average contact time of 19 hours per week, and there will be material development for you to be involved in. You’ll undertake marking and feedback provision on a formative and summative basis, and you’ll also have the chance to support the development of the student’s independent learning.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Your experience will be in teaching Social Sciences in a Further Education or Higher Education context, teaching at a minimum of Level 3 (and 6, if stated above). (essential)
- A degree in a Social Sciences subject. (essential)
- A postgraduate qualification in a Social Sciences subject. (essential)
- A recognised teaching qualification (essential)
- Experience teaching students under the age of 18 (desirable)
- Previous experience teaching International Students (desirable)
