One of the country’s largest retailers is looking to employ a number of apprentices to complete a Property Maintenance Level 2 apprenticeship programme. Successful completion of this programme will lead to permanent employment and a gateway to a great career.
The primary role of a Property Maintenance Operative is to optimise property condition and quality and to ensure the building is kept in a safe working condition. Property Maintenance Operatives need to maintain a high level of quality, providing maximum satisfaction to customers, clients, guests and team. They will understand the mechanism of buildings including electrical, plumbing, plant, safety systems and equipment. They will provide first and immediate response to fault finding, whilst maximising quality and ensuring cost effectiveness. They will ensure prevention of major damage that could result in extensive costs and minimise reactive intervention.
Once on the apprenticeship, learners will spend 80% of their time in store. The remaining 20% will be spent attending off-the-job training.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Customer service application
- Painting and tiling tasks
- Planning and carrying out preventative property maintenance
- Plumbing maintenance and repairs
- Electrical testing and repairs
- Understanding and maintain heating ventilation and air conditioning plant
- Internal and external building fabric maintenance
- Understanding energy, environment and sustainable practices within property maintenance
- Control of property maintenance related resources and equipment
- Working with external contractors
- Understanding how to prepare for refurbishment or deep clean of equipment and surfaces
- Understanding the importance of customer service
- Record and report information accurately either internally or externally
