Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college based across the North of England. We have an exciting opportunity for a Residential Student Warden to join us on a permanent basis. The role will provide an effective and efficient Wardening service to the college's residential students at our Newton Rigg Campus.
The role will involve monitoring and supervising students on campus to ensure that they adhere to the Residential Rules, the Student Code of Conduct, and the College's policies. Wardens also provide a range of information advice and guidance to students to promote independence and informed choices.
The role will support the Student Services Manager and Assistant Head Warden in pro-active and reactive responses to student behaviours, issues and difficulties. Wardens will also provide Fire Warden Cover, site security as necessary and facilitate enrichment and leisure activities as directed by the Assistant Head Warden to enhance Students development and experience of campus life. With previous experience in a role involving supervision of young adults and facilitating activities and events, candidates must be able to respond to difficult situations and make decisions on the most appropriate course of action. They must also be able to provide a wide range of information, advice and support. A First Aid Qualification would be beneficial as would a minibus driver's licence (or a willingness to work towards this if necessary).
This role is 37 hours per week over 35 weeks on a rota basis, including weekends and college holidays. The role will also involve on call cover one evening per week between 24:00 - 08:00 in line with the rota. Flexible working options will be considered such as part time working or job shares.
