SGS College has an exciting opportunity for a Library Assistant to join our enthusiastic team. The successful applicant will need to be able to work flexibly within the team of librarians and assistants, providing a high quality service to staff and students.
You will need to be able to assist in the development and effective operation of the library information desk within the Learning Resource Centres (LRCs) and deal with a wide range of library duties including: issuing books and resources, dealing with enquiries, reservations, information retrieval and shelving. You will also need to assist in the maintenance and ordering of new materials and resources, making sure they are actively promoted with staff and students.
You will be responsible for the day to day operational running of the LRC and play a proactive role in supporting learners and helping them to achieve their potential. You will help colleagues to support learners through study skills programmes and play a key role in communicating effectively with all staff, including managers.
Candidates for this role will ideally have experience of working in a library or LRC (or would be interested in pursuing a career in the field of library and information management). They will be very comfortable using Microsoft Office and working successfully as part of a team. You will be customer focused with good written and verbal communication skills, and will be able to work without supervision with a very organised approach.

The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Disclosure Certificate, Enhanced with Children’s Barred list check, as a requirement of the job.
