As a sixth form college situated in south London, we provide a wide range of vocational and academic qualifications for over 1,000 young people from Croydon and the surrounding boroughs. In February 2019 Coulsdon Sixth Form College merged with Croydon College into one new organisation. The merger brings together two good colleges (by OFSTED in 2018) which will allow the college to reinforce our collective ambition to deliver excellent education for the communities of Croydon and beyond.
We are seeking to recruit an Admissions Officer whose role would involve interacting with prospective and current students on a daily basis. You will answer enquiries from prospective students applying to the College and provide information about; courses, fees and entry requirements. Working in line with College policies you will assess applications, verify supporting documents, interview applicants and issue offers accordingly.
Enrolment of new and returning students and providing general support/advice will be a large part of your role. You will be responsible for liaising with curriculum managers on induction activities for new students and will assist with re-engagement meetings and attendance issues where necessary. You will provide one-to-one support to assist students
This post involves working in a demanding customer service environment dealing with a range of students who are enrolled on a range of courses across the College.
Our learners have high aspirational goals and the successful candidate must possess the skills to inspire and motivate learners to exceed their potential whilst working in a fast moving department.
To be considered for this post you must have a sound knowledge of the 16-19 curriculum and an awareness of the needs of students in this age range. You must have a proven track record of success as a teacher, as exemplified by good examination results; for NQTs evidence should consist of an outstanding placement reference particularly with regard to the standard of teaching and learning. You must possess the ability, and willingness, to participate in curriculum planning, coursework design and moderation, and an awareness of the need for personal development, both as a member of a team and as an individual.
Therefore you must have experience of working in an administration role in an educational environment. This experience should ideally be gained working in an admissions or similar customer service role. You must also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work accurately and efficiently, producing highly accurate documentation in a fast-paced environment, is essential.
A qualification in Business Administration or other relevant qualification is also required.
