This post is based initially at the Waterfront centre of Kirklees College: It is likely that travel to other centres within the college portfolio may be required.
Kirklees College is a large successful FE college, currently Ofsted graded as Good. Operating across Kirklees with centres based in Huddersfield and Dewsbury.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within a modern building, with excellent on site facilities, such as a fully equipped gym, hair & beauty salons and fine dining restaurant.
We are looking to appoint a suitable SEND Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Coordinator for the colleges ever growing Special Educational Needs & Disabilities service. You will be passionate, motivated, with a solution focused approach to managing a team of Learning Support Advisors and Support Workers to deliver additional learning support and interventions for students with EHCP and SEND Needs across the college. Therefore, you will have an outstanding knowledge and understanding of SEND and the impact of individual needs in learning and education, along with the SEND Code of practice and a sound understanding of the EHCP Framework. This knowledge combined with the experience of managing teams of staff. You will have the opportunity to develop the delivery of SEND support across the colleges curriculum departments.
The qualifications deemed essential for the post are a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy (e.g. GCSE English and Maths at grade A*-C) and (A minimum of a Level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline such as youth/social work, IAG, teaching, training or coaching, management, health or SENCO Coordination Qualification). The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is also essential for the post.
