Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college based across the North of England.  We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Herd Manager to join our Farm here at York.  

The successful candidate will assist with the operation of the College dairy herd, and working in conjunction with the Herd Manager, ensure compliance with farm policies (e.g. Biosecurity, Farm Assurance Schemes etc.).

Key tasks will include daily milking and feeding, ensuring adequate stock levels, security, maintenance and tidiness of the equipment, machinery and premises. On occasion you will be on call for calving and routine night checks. You will also be required to support general farm duties as and when required and assist with the activities of students engaged on all units.

With an NDA or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Agriculture (or equivalent) and a certificate in safe use of veterinary medicines, candidates should hold a full driving licence. You should also have experience in milking and other stock tasks and also experience working with a range of machinery.
