JOB OVERVIEW

We are Study Group, a pathway provider college which offers international students (age 17+) the chance to study programmes that are specially designed, university-recognised courses. Our courses help international students to gain the academic, English language and learning standards that they need to succeed, giving them the best possible start to the UK or European education. Due to some very exciting growth, we are looking for a Biology Tutor to join The University of Sheffield International College to teach Biology.

As the largest pathway college within the UK & Europe, with over 1,500 students enrolled annually, you’ll be joining a large collaborative team that is passionate about teaching and learning. You would be working in a culture of enhancing learning, teaching and assessment through a developmental Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy, which for you will mean autonomy, innovation, and development opportunities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

In this job, you will be teaching groups of international students across our Level 3 provision within Biology. You’ll be given the autonomy to be innovative and engaging to enhance the learning experience. The job will give you an average contact time of 7 hours per week as well as other additional responsibilities, such as material development and module coordination. You’ll undertake marking and feedback provision on a formative and summative basis, and you’ll also have the chance to support the development of the student’s independent learning.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Your experience will be in teaching at (level 3 or A-level) Biology
  • A degree or Masters within a relevant subject (desirable)
  • A recognised teaching qualification (desirable)
  • Experience of module development and/or module coordination (desirable)
