Contract basis - Fixed Term - 2 years (with reviewed extension up to 5 further years in line with DDI Programme Life cycle
Edinburgh College is recruiting a Curriculum Leader – Data Science. This is a shared resource to work with colleagues across the Colleges in the city region (Borders, Fife, Edinburgh, West Lothian). This exciting and valuable new role arises from the UK and Scottish Government’s substantial investment in Edinburgh and the South East of Scotland (SES) Data Driven Innovation City Region Deal. The role will report to the Curriculum Portfolio Manager – DDI Skills Gateway (currently being advertised).
The Prime Minister and First Minister announced the Edinburgh and South-East Scotland City Region Deal on 7th August 2018. Few other City Region Deals in the UK have involved such a prominent role for a College. Innovation and Skills are key components of the deal. The Data-Driven Innovation Skills Gateway reflects an inclusive growth ambition, seeking to make the region the leader for developing data literacy skills across its population. Working in partnership with the city region Local Authorities, Colleges, other HE institutions, The Data Lab and third sector organisations.
As a Curriculum Leader in Data Science you will enhance our curriculum innovation programme capability, leading and developing interdisciplinary programmes of work for delivery and to develop staff CPD skills in Data Science.
You will contribute to and support with new Associate Degree courses, Apprenticeship courses and a variety of bespoke course development to widen access and inclusion, liaising with a variety of stakeholders connected with the local authorities and the 3rd Sector.
Specifically you will contextualise learning from areas such as Data Analytics, Data Visualisation, Data Security, Machine Learning, A.I. and apply this knowledge to real life practical applications of learning in all Faculty areas, in order for learners to become confident Data Citizens and Data Workers for the future.

You may work on a range of topics including digital health, sensors, robotics, digital marketing and fintech. There will inevitably be crossover with developing other skills such as creativity and digital literacy; it is anticipated that the role-holder may have a variety of experience within Education and course development environments.
Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline, you will have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate an effective contribution to team working.
