Achievement Coach (Work Experience) - x2

2x Fixed Term Contracts until 31/07/2020

If you are passionate about shaping the lives of young people, this role is for you!

Nottingham College is one of the largest further education colleges in the country, creating opportunities for employment and progression to higher education for the people of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire; raising their prosperity and that of the local economy.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join the rapidly expanding Work Experience Team at Nottingham College. This is a fundamental role that supports our students, helping them to gain crucial work experience and begin their first steps in to their career.  During work placements our students gain fundamental employability and self-management skills along with building on their confidence.

This role is student focused, with the aim of inspiring and motivating our students to undertake work experience whilst helping them to understand the importance of doing so. We are looking for a tenacious self-starter, who is dedicated to helping shape the future careers of our students at Nottingham College.

You will need to build strong working relationships with the students in your case load, promoting the work placements available, supporting them with their applications and helping them to meet their requirements for a work placement. This may include coaching them on basic employability skills and gaining tutor support for any specific technical knowledge they may need prior to their placement. You will also manage student attendance whilst out on work placement and provide any support and pastoral care required. Whilst on their work placement you will be the first point of college contact for the learner whilst they are based at the company site.

This role will also involve working closely with your counterpart in the Work Experience Team who is responsible for generating suitable work placement for the students in your caseload. This role has a high level of autonomy and therefore self-management, organisation, reliability and professionalism are key at all times. Strong IT skills are required with a working knowledge of the full Microsoft office suite. Experience within this sector or a learner support background is not essential but would be beneficial.

The post will be shortlisted against the essential and desirable criteria at application stage from the person specification. Please ensure that you have a look at this specification attached to the Role Profile and complete your application directly from this, as these specifications are an integral part of the selection process.
