Air Service Training (Engineering) Ltd, more usually known as AST, is one of the world’s leading Part 147 training establishments and has been delivering high quality engineering training to the aviation world since 1934.
AST has classroom and hangar facilities in Perth, Scotland and also delivers training at customer and partner locations across the world. Current activities see AST staff working in Kuwait, Jordan, Nigeria, Kenya, Mauritius, Nepal and India with business development activities adding more nations annually. AST is also involved in several aerospace academy projects which will see new multi-million pound facilities opening in the next few years, including one at AST’s home site in Perth.
AST now has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Training Manager (STM) to join the business, with the incumbent due to retire later in 2019.
Purpose of Post:
The STM role is absolutely critical to the success and culture of AST, with the holder setting the tone and standards for all that happens in our classroom and hangar spaces. The role therefore requires a person who can successfully interact and motivate students from across the world, whilst leading and developing an instructor team that meets the high standards expected by our students and sponsors.
As a key member of the AST management team, whilst ensuring the achievement of committed training delivery within agreed budgets, the STM will also participate in the development and subsequent delivery of AST’s strategic plan. This plan will ensure the business remains at the leading edge of training development and delivery whilst continuing to be successful in commercial terms. This will require an openness to new ideas, the ability to transfer and adapt concepts from other adjacent sectors and then the tenacity and skills to see those ideas through to implementation.
The ideal candidate will have a background in aviation related training and a track record in developing individuals and teams that can then deliver high quality services to customers, our students and sponsors.
The STM role is a regulated post under UKCAA and EASA regulations so the candidate will also need to satisfy those regulatory requirements, which will be assessed through interview by the relevant authority.
