Due to some very exciting growth, we are looking for a number of student centred Academic Skills Tutors to join the team. This is an exciting job role where you’ll work with students on a variety of skills to help prepare them for study at a Russell Group University. You could be assisting students in areas such as Critical thinking, critical reading, some labs skills, research methods, tutorial and pastoral support, and literature review.

As the largest pathway college within the UK & Europe, with over 1,500 students enrolled annually, you’ll be joining a large collaborative team that are passionate about teaching and learning. You would be working in a culture of enhancing learning, teaching and assessment through a developmental Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy, which for you will mean autonomy, innovation, and development opportunities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

In these jobs, you will be teaching areas of Social Science to groups of international students across our Level 3 and Level 6 programmes. You’ll be given the autonomy to be innovative and engaging to enhance the learning experience. The job will give you an average contact time of just under 19 hours per week, but this is reduced for additional responsibilities, such as material development and module coordination. You’ll undertake marking and feedback provision on a formative and summative basis, and you’ll also have the chance to support the development of the student’s independent learning.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Your experience will be in teaching Academic Skills at level 3 or Level 6 (within the relevant subject area) – (Essential)
  • A relevant degree or Masters e.g.# TESOL, Applied Linguistics (essential)
  • A recognised teaching qualification (desirable)
  • Experience of module development and/or module coordination (desirable)
