STEM Technician / Facilitator – Engineering (Mechanical)

29.6 hours per week

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to join the staff within the School of Business, Health and Technology within UCBC predominantly.

With a minimum of a HND qualification in a relevant Mechanical Engineering subject and / or equivalent industrial experience, you will be required to help service and maintain a range of workshop equipment, help strategically plan the development of facilities and implement a robust maintenance schedule for the equipment in your charge, whilst working co-operatively as part of a larger team.

Duties will include supporting staff and students in laboratory and workshop scenarios, undertaking a range of practical tasks in an engineering context (from constructing projects including drilling, cutting or welding to performing experiments with digital electronics, hydraulic or pneumatic systems for example).

You would be expected to be pivotal in the development of a range of facilities and practical sessions to support teaching delivery and someone who has a strong base set of skills in one or more of the above contexts. You would also need to be willing to extend your practical and theoretical knowledge with the right staff development.
