Fixed term for 1 year

Are you passionate about physical activity? Do you have the skills and experience to create innovative opportunities for people to become more regularly active and look after their wellbeing?

Gower College Swansea is one of the largest colleges in Wales with a strong reputation for high quality teaching and learning.

Working with internal and external stakeholders, you will support the Learner Experience and Wellbeing Manager in the development and the delivery of a broad range of easily accessible, high quality opportunities for students to take part in physical activity and enhance their wellbeing.

You will play a key role in the Wellbeing team working to demonstrate how physical activity is a central pillar in improving and supporting the mental health and wellbeing of the college students. This will include delivering products, programmes and initiatives that reflect the needs of the student population.

Supporting a diverse team of volunteers, you will take responsibility for the GCS Active Activities programme and will be proactive in increasing the range of opportunities for students to be active on and off campus.

With a Group Training and Fitness qualification or a relevant degree, you will hold a level 2 qualification in both English and Maths (GCSE Grade A-C or equivalent) and have experience of working with young people in a physical activity/wellbeing environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to plan and prioritise tasks effectively.

Appointments will normally be made to the bottom of the salary scale with annual increments on 1st August each year (subject to completing 6 months service).

Applications may be submitted in Welsh and will be treated no less favourably than applications submitted in English.

Gower College Swansea is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.  Appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check and require registration with the Education Workforce Council for Wales.
