Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college based across the North of England. Our campus at Newton Rigg is set in the heart of Cumbria. Surrounded by breath-taking fields and farms it is at the centre of the farming community. It trains and develops a wide range of learners from the county and across the country. The College is dedicated to promoting education, skills, learning and development across the forestry sector in the UK. The Department of Forestry is looking to recruit a Course Manager member to teach across a varied and interesting range of programmes in Forestry at both Level 2 and 3. The primary objectives of this post will be supporting the development and delivery of technical skills in both forestry and associated land based courses.
We have a wide range of industry partners and this role will support the skills and learning agenda for the industry. There is a focus on promoting the forestry careers to a diverse audience and increasing the opportunities for all new entrants to forestry.
We are ideally looking for candidates with specialisms in the following:
- Commercial Forestry.
- Land based Machinery.
- Estate Skills.
- Tree and Pest identification.
- Health and Safety.
- Tree and Timber Measuring.
- Practical Forestry Skills.
- Forestry Business.
- Timber Utilisation.
The successful candidate will also be Course Tutor for a group of learners. Ideally qualified to Level 3 in forestry, the successful candidate will have well-established work related experience. Teaching and assessing experience is desirable, as is a recognised teaching qualification but full training will be provided as part of professional development.
Above all, we are looking for someone with a strong understanding and competence in Forestry disciplines, and who has a real enthusiasm to pass on that knowledge and skill to others.
