The STEM department is seeking to appoint a full time Technician in Mechanical Engineering within our FE provision.

The successful candidate will provide general and specialist technical support to lecturers and students whilst carrying out practical activities and classroom based sessions. You will maintain and service a wide range of mechanical equipment to include manual and CNC lathes, milling machines, grinders and drilling machines as well as an extensive list of hand tools and precision marking out and measuring equipment. The technician will also be responsible for the operation, maintenance and servicing of a range of mechanical testing equipment to include Tensile testing machines, Charpy Impact tester and Hardness testing Machines.

You would also be required to produce mechanical technical drawings and specifications using CAD software.

Experience of fabrication and welding processes would be an advantage

Applicants should possess adequate relevant industry experience, a relevant level 2 qualification in the area of expertise and ideally a minimum of a level 2 qualification or equivalent in both Maths and English.
