English Lecturer

This is an exciting time for Hartpury, as from September 2018 we became both a university and a college on a single campus; an amazing achievement in the history of our institution. As a land based residential institution renowned for excellence in sport, equine and land based studies, we aim to provide a unique high quality experience in a focused and supportive environment, challenging our learners in the pursuit of excellence. Hartpury College of Further Education was graded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in May 2018. The overall effectiveness of leadership and management, the quality of teaching, learning and assessment and the 16-19 study programmes all received the highest grade from Ofsted.

You will be an innovative and student focused lecturer, responsible for the planning and successful delivery of GCSE English. You will have the ability to teach and engage students across a wide range of vocational courses. Your main duties will include:

  • design, develop and deliver high quality teaching across the College.
  • effectively plan and exhibit differentiation within lectures.
  • be flexible, organised and self-motivated to meet deadlines.
  • provide support, develop potential and strive to improve students’ skills.
  • work effectively as part of the English and Maths Team.

It is essential that you have significant skills and knowledge of teaching English at GCSE level, with a proven track record to provide a stimulating learning environment and exceptional results. Whilst experience in this field is desirable and you will hold a teaching qualification and a level 5 Diploma in Teaching English (or equivalent), we also welcome applications from graduates with a desire to teach English in the FE sector.

In return, we offer excellent benefits including a comprehensive continuous professional development programme, 35 days (pro-rata) annual leave entitlement plus bank holidays, onsite fitness facilities, wellbeing events, employee discounts and lots more.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment.  All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.

Hartpury values a diverse workforce and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
