Graduate Teaching Assistant (Higher Education)

Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college based across the North of England with centres in York, Middlesbrough, Saltaire, Wakefield, Newcastle and Penrith.

Joining us as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will carry out a range of tasks including the preparation and delivery of tutorials, planning and supervising the learning experience of our students, placement support and recruitment activities.  This is a full time role, fixed term for 12 months.

Contributing to programmes within the Higher Education directorate and across college where relevant, you will act as a support/guest lecturer for specified HE modules and assist with the development of the higher education curricula whilst engaging in appropriate marketing activity.

Completing on time, routine administration responsibilities associated with lecturing, you must provide tutorial support for students and participate in training and development courses, research, secondment and personal contact in order to keep up to date in technical and education expertise as well as those skills necessary to effectively tutor and coach learners.

Educated to level six in a relevant subject and with experience of teaching, candidates must have the ability to take ownership for modules which they are responsible for, good interpersonal skills and a commitment to gaining a teaching certificate in a required time frame.  

Self-motivated and enthusiastic, you must have excellent organisational skills and be willing and able to teach at other sites as needed.
