Luminate Education Group specialises in the provision of high quality education across a broad range of age phases and has an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Head of Department to join our Teacher Training, Learning and Development Department. This permanent position is well suited to an individual that is looking to advance their career in educational leadership and who is committed to developing outstanding practitioners in all areas of teaching and learning.

The Group currently employ over 1500 practitioners across a wide range of specialisms with up to 100 trainees on placement at any one time. The growth plan for The Luminate Education Group outlines ambitions to increase significantly the number of group members by 2025.

The Role

The primary role of the Head of Department is to lead the strategic development of the Teacher Training, Learning and Development Department for the Luminate Group. The successful candidate will advise and lead on securing ITT accreditation for all routes including apprenticeships, provider led places and schools direct. The role will encompass providing opportunities for trainees in early year’s provision, key stages 1 to 4, post 16 and higher education.  

  • The Head of Department will be responsible for the quality and outcomes of the existing provision and the development of new pathways in further education, higher education and apprenticeship routes.
  • The Head of Department will be responsible for the setting and management of the budget and ensuring the Department meets agreed levels of financial contribution.
  • The Head of Department will provide leadership in the enhancement of teaching, learning and assessment within the Department and ensure departmental delivery role models expectations across the group.
