HE Lecturer in Civil Engineering
MidKent College is at the heart of the education sector in South East England, and a College which Ofsted recognised as Good for overall effectiveness, in a November 2018 inspection.
As a progressive student-centred College, we are now looking for a Higher Education Lecturer in Civil Engineering. If you are passionate about education, and can inspire those around you, we'd love to hear from you.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working within the HE sector and aim to inspire high achieving learners from Levels 4 to 6. This post requires a minimum of a degree or equivalent in topics relevant to Civil Engineering as well as a teaching qualification, or have a willingness to undertake to the required national standard. MidKent College welcome applications from individuals currently or recently in industry who are looking to change their future career. If you do not currently hold a teaching qualification we can support you to gain recognised teaching status.
The role requires the ability to teach subjects including site surveying, 3D CAD, CAD, the Urban Environment, Highway Engineering and Hydraulics, and you will be expected to deliver high-quality, practice-led teaching at undergraduate level. If you do not have all of these, we would still be interested in hearing from you.
The role requires you to deal with core research modules like design projects and dissertation. Hence the understanding to support and guide students to produce a research document is necessary. Ideally having a Masters or PhD level of education will benefit the post, but is not mandatory. Membership to professional bodies will be beneficial but not mandatory as if we are looking for accreditation then a chartered engineer or a member of Institutional of Civil Engineers will be beneficial.
