SEN/D Job Coaches (Special Educational Needs and Disability)
One-year fixed-term contract (36 weeks per year)
Start date ideally w/c 26/08/19
The Foundation Learning Department at NESCOT is looking for motivated, organised and inspirational individuals to coach students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities whilst they access meaningful work experience on our Supported Internship Programme (SIP).
The role of SEN/D Job Coach is to act as a facilitator for young people with SEN/D and their host employers, proactively steering and supporting interns progress throughout the internship, in consultation with our Work Experience Lead.
Your main duties will be in the workplace, supporting individual or small groups of interns, using your initiative and discretion to develop their employability skills, preparing them for sustainable paid employment. The ability to engage, negotiate and develop strong working relationships with interns, employers, parent/carers and colleagues is integral to this role. Some of the employers are based locally, others are further afield and may involve travelling with the interns to their place of work. You will then accompany them back to Nescot.
Experience of supporting vulnerable young people with SEN/D is essential. A ‘can-do’ person, with a strong belief in the programme’s ethos, you will have excellent interpersonal communication skills, understanding of business practice and an energetic, flexible approach. Willingness to work collaboratively in our Supported Internship team, balanced with the confidence and ability to manage your own time effectively when working remotely, will be the key to success.
Closing Date will be Sunday 23rd June 2019
Interviews will be held on Friday 28th June 2019
