Nescot seek to appoint an enthusiastic and reliable Senior System Administrator to help us support and maintain the college’s large server environment.

The post will focus heavily on the management and continuous maintenance of 80+ servers, both physical and virtual. It will also be concerned in adapting to the needs of the curriculum and business sides of the College. The post-holder will have detailed knowledge of Windows server environments, implementing best practices across the college whilst giving direction and support to the system administrators.  The post will also, along with the system administrator, act as third-line support for the college.

You will be expected to help support and maintain the College server environment, VMWare infrastructure and associated storage. Duties will include installation, configuration, maintenance and repair of the server environment, management of the Office 365 establishment, Integration with third party systems/software and general ICT Support.  You will be required to support, update and maintain appropriate system documentation.

We are looking for a person with a ‘Can Do’ attitude and an approachable manner in order to advise on and promote services for the support of teaching and learning, ensuring that these are always implemented with security in mind.

The Senior System Administrator will work closely with the Director of IT Technical Services and the Senior Network Engineer to ensure the best possible IT experience for all stakeholders in the college. The Senior System Administrator will be responsible for the provision of day to day hardware/software support and network support in respect of the College ICT facilities and server environment.

You must be educated to degree/graduate level or equivalent. Microsoft qualifications are required as a minimum. Previous experience in the maintenance and support of a Microsoft environment is essential, as well as working in a customer facing support department.
