Perth College UHI is one of Scotland’s leading Colleges of Further and Higher Education, and a large partner in Scotland’s newest University, the University of the Highlands and Islands.

We are looking for a Lecturer in Vehicle Body Repair to join our growing team of teaching staff to support and deliver training to full-time and apprentice courses.  These programmes consist of a block release apprentice class and a busy full-time course studying Vehicle Body and Paintwork disciplines. The past few years have seen a steady increase in applications for both programmes and this expansion has created the provision for extra teaching staff.

The campus is well resourced to deliver a first class learning experience in Vehicle Body Repair and Paint with a well-balanced mix of lecture theatres, classrooms and training workshops.

As a Lecturer you will contribute to shaping the future of the next generation of Vehicle Body Repair and Painting techniques through teaching and other scholarly activities such as research and development.  Within your specialisation, you will be responsible for preparing materials for learning, teaching and assessment; for the teaching of theory, practical aspects, supervising of student work; and contributing to the development of the Vehicle Body Repair and paint programme.

Candidates should hold a level 3 qualification in Vehicle Body Repair and paint.  A HNC in Automotive Management would be desirable.  Training will be provided for the successful candidate.

In addition to the above, you should be a well-motivated self-starter with good communication skills who is able to work effectively with a team.  A strong customer-focus and an awareness of high standards is required in the Automotive Industry.

Previous teaching experience is not essential for candidates with appropriate industrial experience.

Closing date:  12 noon on 01/05/2019
Interview date: 20/05/2019

This post undertakes regulated work with children and a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme check is required.  A check will be made against the list of those barred from working with children.
