Barking & Dagenham College is a vibrant and highly successful College in East London with circa 12,500 students, circa 500 established staff and a turnover of £35m.  The College offers routes into learning from entry level through to MBA level, including apprenticeships, higher level apprentices, higher education and job centre plus clients.  We have technical specialist areas from level 3 and above with a broad based curriculum up to level 2.  We are immensely proud of the achievements of our students, our entrepreneurial and motivated staff team and our extensive partnership network.  The College trains circa 850 apprentices, including circa 110 higher level apprenticeships and delivers work place training, traineeships and higher level technical and professional specialisms up to MBA level in our 4 strategic vocational areas; Construction, Design & Management; Engineering including mechatronics & robotics; Digital Creative; Health & Social Care and Leadership and Management across the pan London occupational sectors.

Barking & Dagenham College is looking to appoint a hardworking, enthusiastic, professional Reception & Switchboard Officer, who will have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with students, visitors and colleagues through different mediums. This post is permanent 36 hours a week. The post holder should have good administration skills with the ability to use a variety of different computer packages including Microsoft packages. The key responsibilities will be providing a high quality customer orientated service to all visitors and callers and ensure that all visitors to the College are made welcome, ascertaining their requirements, assisting them with general information or signposting them on the appropriate person. Previous experience of working in a fast pace environment is essential. Past experience of working within a college setting would be beneficial.

The post holder would need to be able to work flexible hours and there are 2 working patterns available as stated below.

1: Monday – Thursday 08:00 – 16:30, Friday 08:00 – 15:00

2: Monday – Thursday 11:00 – 19:30, Friday 10:00 – 17:00
