Key Responsibilities

We are currently seeking Composite Technician Apprentices. As a Composite Technician Apprentice your role will include the production of Carbon Composite Components using Composite Laminating and Trimming techniques.

This will require you to follow clearly documented manufacturing processes, using pre-defined production books known as “lay up books” in order to ensure the highest accuracy and quality of each component prior to the components cure process. 

You may then be responsible for the final completion of each component known as “Trimming” where you will use a combination of air and manual hand tools to remove unwanted material, following set drawings and processes.

Throughout this process you will be responsible for self-inspecting your work at key stages of the production cycle and work closely with your line manager to ensure the very highest level of standard is achieved.

To adopt safe working practices at all times in compliance with Health and Safety regulations and company policy, drawing attention of Supervisory, Management staff any matters of concern relating to safety of equipment or safety procedures.

You will also be required to commit to learning the skills and knowledge required to operate within the different disciplines of the Manufacturing Department both within the Factory and at MK College.

Entry requirements

• 5 GCSE's at A*-C/9-4 including Maths, English and Science
• Predicted grades acceptable

• College attendance in years 1 & 2 for L3 technical certificate
• In the workplace L3 NVQ
• Year 3 - work based training
• Regular visits from the college into the workplace
• Assessments and observations in the workplace
• On-going training and support from the employer
• End Point Assessment
