Sparsholt College Hampshire (incorporating Andover College), is designated by the ESFA as ‘Good’ in terms of Financial Health. The college is both a Further Education and Higher Education College just outside Winchester (and easy access to the A34 and M3) and a separate Andover College Campus, 15 miles from Winchester (just off the A303) with a wide diversity of activity, including many commercial aspects and recent very successful inspections by Ofsted and a TEF Gold for University Centre Sparsholt.
The successful candidate will be one of 4 involved in the Strategic Leadership of the College Group and will be directly responsible to the Chief Executive (who is also College Principal) on a day-to-day basis and to the Board of Sparsholt College Services. The appointee will be a successful qualified accountant with a track record of outstanding financial management and control within a tightly constrained and complex organisation and with the gravitas needed to have an impact in this senior role.
The core responsibility of the appointee will be for planning the financial Strategy and the management and accounting functions of the College Group. This will include the production of the three-year financial plan, annual and monthly financial statements, financial assurance and audit, liaison with lending banks, treasury management and financial risk management.
The post is directly responsible for the Finance Team, who are responsible for the production of accurate financial data in liaison with college managers to deliver surpluses which will enable the college to achieve the targets in the Strategic Plan. The new Director and their team are expected to provide accurate and reliable financial guidance, direction and support to college staff, students and stakeholders. The Post is currently also responsible for the Property/Premises team of the college, through its Premises Manager. However, through discussion with the successful candidate, the extent of that Premises responsibility and the possible oversight of other resources within the College Group will be subject to negotiation dependent upon the background and experience of the successful appointee.
