We have a great opportunity at HMYOI Wetherby to join the education team as our Head of Inclusion on a permanent, full time (37 hour per week) basis.

The purpose of the role is to effectively manage all support and inclusion services and staff within the YOI to ensure the right support is in place for learners to receive the appropriate and most effective methods of support intervention. This is a challenging but rewarding role and we need someone who is flexible and resilient, with the ability to encourage, engage and motivate, to help give children and young people a brighter future.

HMYOI Wetherby in West Yorkshire, is a custodial establishment for Young People, aged between the ages of 15 and 18.  There are currently around 280 young people in the YOI with an operational capacity of 320. All young people work towards English and Maths qualifications, as well as ICT, PSD, and vocational pathways which include construction, creative arts, hospitality and catering, business administration, industrial cleaning and horticulture. We also offer an Advice and Guidance service which helps our young people with post release opportunities.

In order To do this successfully you'll need to:

  • Be able to effectively manage and motivate a team to ensure learners within the YOI receive a responsive and flexible support service
  • Liaise with other team managers to ensure a holistic approach to learner support and curriculum development
  • Hold a teaching qualification - minimum Cert Ed or PGCE
