Lecturer in Primary Education

17.5 hours per week.

We are looking for an experienced teacher with responsibility for Computer Studies teaching as part of the Primary team. Additional experience in Humanities would be an advantage. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the next generation of teachers and those who play vital support roles in education. We are keen to recruit a teacher with recent primary classroom expertise and experience. Support/CPD will be made available to enable the postholder to make the transition to Higher Education. The knowledge and confidence to teach other aspects/curriculum areas will be advantageous, for example, in behaviour management, SEN or other primary curriculum subjects. You will contribute to the teaching of the BA (Hons) Primary Education, PGCE and Education Studies degrees mainly. The post holder should be able to support students as both a personal and academic tutor and contribute to a range of theoretical and practical modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The professional strand of the primary courses involves supporting trainees to address the Teachers’ Standards and therefore a confident grasp of the theoretical and practical aspects of classroom practice for this age group is required. The ability to carry out teaching observations and provide constructive feedback to trainees will also be an aspect of this role.

The range of teaching duties and specifically additional modules to be taught will partly depend on the expertise and experience of the applicant and therefore is negotiable on appointment.

A check with the Disclosure and Barring Service will be undertaken for this post.
