Senior Lecturer / Principal Lecturer (Agriculture)

37 hours per week.

This is an exciting time for Hartpury, as from September 2018 we became both a university and a college on a single campus; this is an amazing achievement in the history of our institution, particularly in our 70th year. As an institution renowned for excellence in sport, equine, animal and land based curricula, we aim to provide a unique high quality experience in a focused and supportive environment, challenging our learners in the pursuit of excellence.

As a senior member of staff in the Agriculture Department at Hartpury University, you will be part of an enthusiastic team who are passionate about the development and delivery of our agriculture programmes. Teaching, research and knowledge exchange activities make use of our extensive agricultural facilities, which includes a commercial mixed farm (450 ha) and a new Agri-Tech (Livestock) centre (due September 2019).

You will be an experienced Higher Education senior/principal lecturer who can deliver across our agriculture portfolio, at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. The role entails lecturing, module leadership, student support and programme management. You will have a postgraduate qualification, ideally at doctorate level, in a relevant subject and, preferably, a background in agricultural technologies and/or management.  A teaching qualification is desirable, or a willingness to achieve one if you have significant industry and or research experience.

We offer a dynamic and empowering environment where your input can really make a difference and where you can pursue your own career aspirations. Research active candidates will have the opportunity to contribute towards the Animal-Welfare Performance research arena.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Philip Watson, Associate Head of Department Agriculture, at philip.watson@hartpury.ac.uk.

We offer excellent benefits including continuous professional development opportunities, 35 days annual leave entitlement plus bank holidays, onsite fitness facilities, free onsite parking and lots more.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.

Hartpury values a diverse workforce and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
