Administrative and Events Assistant

Gresham College is an independent education institution in the City of London. Founded in 1597, the College provides a programme of free public lectures delivered by a number of eminent Professors. Events take place at Barnard’s Inn Hall, Holborn and other venues, such as the Museum of London. There are approximately 130 events each year and lectures are also live streamed with recordings available through our website.

The College is seeking to appoint an Administrative Assistant to support the preparation and presentation of the College’s public lectures and events.  The post includes administrative tasks supporting the College office, including correspondence and calendar management, bookings, and preparing the venue for events.  It also involves support for colleagues in events administration, communications, and PR, with some social media work. The role calls for an intelligent and committed person with good IT, communication, organisational and administrative skills.  As the Administrative Assistant is usually the first point of contact with the public, either in person or on the telephone, excellent interpersonal skills are also required.

The post is varied and far from routine, so we are looking for someone who can work unsupervised and manage their time well. Because we are a small team we all need to be flexible in our approach, helping each other and getting involved in many different aspects of running the College.
