SGS College’s Wellbeing Service & Student Union, have an exciting opportunity for an Education & Wellbeing Mentor to join the team.
The post holder will be expected to work collaboratively with a specified curriculum faculty to provide pastoral support to an agreed caseload of “at risk” learners in order to maintain their attendance and maximise their progress and achievement. You will liaise with a range of internal college functions and external agencies to secure appropriate pastoral support.
You will deliver individual support to the learners to improve engagement in learning, remove barriers to learning, improve attainment, improve resilience and promote self-confidence by supporting their emotional, social, mental health and well-being.
Working closely as a team, you will ensure that the provision of pastoral and safeguarding support is delivered to the highest standard, meeting the needs of the learners consistently and equitably, in line with College Strategic Priorities.
You will need experience of working with a wide range of learners from different ages and backgrounds who may not be easy to engage, and may have a range of barriers to their learning. You will also need to be trained and have experience of working in Safeguarding Children, Young people and Vulnerable Adults.

The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Disclosure Certificate, Enhanced with Children’s Barred list check, as a requirement of the job.
