The job will be a hands on role, based at Milton Keynes within Production, Sub Assembly, Product Assembly Lines, Logistics, Service, Test & Development. The successful applicant will develop into a top class practical Service Technician with expert knowledge in Mechanical, Electrical and Hydraulic assembly, linked to developing, building and servicing the Niftylift product range.

During the 4 year programme, students will develop their practical skills in the role of Trainee Manufacturing Technician and on successful completion of the training programme / apprenticeship, full time employment may be offered in one of the following positions:

Service Engineer

This role requires team players with strong practical and theoretical knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems and installations. Technical understanding and structured fault diagnostics and repair skills. Able to liaise directly with customers in a professional and courteous manner. Flexible to work internal and external to the main site, and able to travel within the UK and abroad. Operating to high quality/workmanship standards, within a demanding customer focused environment. You will be required to perform a range of repair/maintenance operations to the required quality standard, on time, and within commercial cost budgets.

Entry requirements

  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs (or equivalent): Grade 4 (C) or above in Maths, English and Science.

Qualifications taken

The Level 3 Diploma will be delivered on a day release basis and will be delivered as a mix of workshop and classroom training, with an emphasis on the development of practical skills.

Learners would have successfully passed all qualifications in the Intermediate Apprenticeship or have GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English and Maths.  Learners would enrol onto a Level 3 Apprenticeship framework, specifically, Engineering Manufacture (framework code 539) and complete:

  • EAL Level 3 NVQ Extended Diploma
  • EAL Level 3 Certificate in Engineering Technologies
  • Transferrable Skills training:
  • ICT Functional Skills - Level 2
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills - Level 2
  • Award in Employment Rights and Responsibilities - Level 2
