Responsible to: Workshop Supervisor

You will be working alongside the existing workshop team to learn all aspects of the Assembly & Test Technician Role detailed below:

  • Electrical/Electronic assembly of HUK products to include prototype assembly
  • Testing of HUK Products to include assemblies
  • Cable and harness assembly for use within products
  • Mechanical assembly
  • Loading operating and product software
  • Preparing build and test procedures
  • Liaising with  Design Engineers, Electrical, Mechanical, R & D prior to and during build and test 
  • General assistance/support to Operations
  • General assistance/support to the R & D Department

Entry requirements

Desired qualifications

GCSE Grade C/4 or above in maths, English and Science (or equivalent).

Skills Required

Essential:

  • Qualified to a good level of all round GCSEs
  • A-C (4 or above) in GCSE maths
  • Ability to work from written and pictorial instructions
  • Computer literate

Desirable:

  • An existing knowledge of electrical/electronic engineering
  • Practical experience

Apprenticeship Standard for Engineering Technician

  • Attendance at Chaffron Way Campus 
  • (3 days in Year 1, 1 day in Years 2 & 3, no required college attendance in Year 4)
  • Regular visits from the College into the workplace
  • Observations and assessments in the workplace
  • Use of e-portfolio
  • End point assessment
  • Ongoing training and support from the College and employer
